2022 Skillman International Forum – Cagliari

Cagliari, Sardegna, Italy

The Italian island of Sardegna was the magnificent setting for the 2022 Skillman International Forum (SIF). Featuring high-level keynote speakers, SIF2022 was hosted by the government of Sardegna in a lovely historical conference centre that used to be a tobacco factory. Running over 2 days from 23-24 November, the event was a great success indeed.

Warnborough Represented

Warnborough President and Vice-President, Dr Brenden Tempest-Mogg and Dr Julian Ng were there, as were Council Secretary Dr Pamela Hatton and Visiting Professor Dr Urs Hauenstein. Markus Feichter, the principal of World Open Brain, our learning centre in Bolzano, was there, as was Teodora Chifor, the head of Edubiz Romania, with a group of her youth leaders.

In his dual role as incoming President of IVETA, Dr Julian signed various agreements of cooperation.

He also spoke in a ‘futuristic education’ panel session hosted by Shanti Jaganathan of the Asia Development Bank with Dr Craig Marsh, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lincoln, and Dr Elisa Guidi, the EU President of the World Crafts Council. Dr Hauenstein chaired a roundtable session with educational expert, Hanne Shapiro, and representatives from the European Training Foundation and CEDEFOP on microcredentials.

Over two packed days, delegates debated, discussed and shared best practice about how educators can embrace the utopia of changing societies.

Diverse Topics Discussed

The conference covered myriad topics from microcredentials to augmented intelligence, the LifeComp framework to accreditation, Microsoft’s vision of the future of education to sexism and sexual harassment in schools.

In the evenings, delegates were able to let down their hair over sumptuous traditional Sardegnan feasts.
