We are delighted to announce that the Warnborough Foundation has taken over the task of overseeing our annual arts conference.
A New Beginning?
This year, we have eschewed Canterbury for the county of Kent, so the conference will now be known as the Kent Arts Conference, or KArtsCon, for short.
Rochester
#KArtsCon2022 (yep, we have a hashtag!) will be held in the historic city of Rochester – home to the second-oldest cathedral (after Canterbury) and the tallest Norman keep in the UK. Fans of the famous author, CharlesDickens, will know that Rochester is a veritable treasure chest of references for Dickensian literature. Even the majestic Rochester Corn Exchange (where we are hosting #KArtsCon2022) has been described, rather unflatteringly, by Dickens as “.. a mean little brick heap like a demented chapel” in his essay ‘Dullborough Town‘.
Rochester is anything but Dull(borough) – set on the beautiful Medway river, it is awash in history and traditions that make this a unique location for all who visit.
2022 Theme and Call for Submissions
We have a brand new website and a new theme which is “Art: Unexpected“.
You can read about the theme here, and the call is now open for submissions. We invite you all to make presentations, run workshops, read papers, show films, etc. Details are all on our website.
Partners
We are pleased to announce Child-Friendly Medway and the Halpern Foundation as our partners, as well as other organisations who have already committed to helping young artists come to the function. After two years of unprecedented circumstances, we look forward to welcoming back previous participants and meeting new ones in person once again.
