CArtseCon2020: Art to the Rescue

In desperate times (such as our current pandemic), art can help to alleviate some of the darkness and despair. From funnily vicious cartoons of our politicians’ failings to coronavirus-themed revamps of classic songs on Youtube to creatively-engaging Zoom lessons, art has seemingly come to the rescue of people in lockdown everywhere.

We want to see examples and case studies of how art has inspired your community where you are, what you are doing as arts professionals, and what results have transpired.

These could be lessons for us in the future when things return to normality (if at all). How can we continue using art to rescue us in our hours of need?

Some of the ideas below can serve as a guide for speakers and presenters:

  • How has art restored your faith in something?
  • What examples of art have seen you through difficult times?
  • Laughter is the best medicine: what artistic things have made you laugh?
  • How can we use art to bring about healing in our communities?
  • How can art facilitate the exchange of dialogues and ideas?
  • What is the connection between the arts and health?
  • How can we be creative in difficult times?
