IVETA current VP of Europe, Dr Brenden Tempest-Mogg, arranged a fantastic networking and idea-sharing session on Saturday, 7th July.
Participants came from around the world – from countries as diverse as Australia, the USA, Chile, St Lucia, China, Greece, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The key purpose of the meeting was two-fold – to engender more international networking/partnerships and to brainstorm ideas for sustainable education at the vocational and technical levels. Former IVETA president, Carmel Thompson, was on-hand to share her views on issues facing education today, and suggest some solutions. For too long, vocational and technical education has been seen as the ‘poor cousin’ when compared to higher education.
Everyone in the networking group first presented on their own experiences and expertise, before sharing suggestions and ideas to make vocational education viable and sustainable.
After the event, the group broke up for drinks and nibbles and spent time getting to know one another.
