IVETA Europe Online Conference: TVET Online – A Sign of the Times?

Warnborough College hosts the first IVETA Europe online conference with the theme of “TVET Online – A Sign of the Times?”

A very timely and topical issue, the conference broaches how the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications have changed the way education providers (need to) look at their delivery.

In the past 6 months, we have seen many educational organisations rush to put their courses online.  Reasons range from the need to provide continuity to their services to cashing in on a new format.  In so doing, many questions have come up. Do educational organisations have the infrastructure and resources to handle a change of delivery mode? Do teachers have the pedagogic skills to teach online? Do they have the technical skills to design and upload these courses? What technology should be used? What about students who do not have access to or cannot afford the technology? Last but not least, can the vocational and hands-on nature of TVET education lend itself successfully to online delivery?

Although this e-conference is organised under IVETA Europe, we would like to see input from around the world. Let this be a forum where best practices, expertise, ideas and knowledge can be shared, discussed and debated for the good of TVET.

Issues that we encourage speakers to broach include:

  • Online TVET accessibility.
  • Pedagogies for successful online TVET teaching/learning.
  • Online TVET DACUM
  • TVET qualifications and formalisation of learning (and relevance of this).
  • Government policies and their impact on online TVET.
  • Latest research on TVET vis-a-vis online delivery.
  • Best practices and lessons learnt from actual case studies.

The Call for Papers is now open.
