Due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 lockdown across the world, we thought it best to be safe and postpone CArtsCon2020 to 2021. The new dates will be from 13 to 16 July, 2021.
In its place, we are launching our first online, virtual conference… fittingly titled CArtseCon.
CArtseCon will take place on July 15th, 2020 and run from 11am GMT to 7pm GMT.
The theme for CArtseCon is “Art to the Rescue“.
The premise for this is that when we face difficult situations (such as the current health crisis and associated lockdowns), art can help to alleviate some of the darkness and despair. From funnily vicious cartoons of our politicians’ failings to coronavirus-themed revamps of classic songs on Youtube to creatively-engaging Zoom lessons, art has seemingly come to the rescue of people in lockdown everywhere.
It would be fantastic to see examples and case studies of how art has inspired your community, what you are doing as arts professionals, and what results have transpired.
We could lessons for the future when things return to normality (if such a thing exists).
How could we continue using art to rescue us in our hours of need?
Some of the ideas below can serve as a guide for speakers and presenters:
- How has art restored your faith in something?
- What examples of art have seen you through difficult times?
- Laughter is the best medicine: what artistic things have made you laugh?
- How can we use art to bring about healing in our communities?
- How can art facilitate the exchange of dialogues and ideas?
- What is the connection between the arts and health?
- How can we be creative in difficult times?
